"Autumn on LeMoyne" honors one of my FAVORITE streets to walk down in my hometown of Oak Park, IL—LeMoyne Parkway. The homes are all lovely, and there is a wide median in the middle with trees, plantings, and chairs for chillin'—it's absolutely lovely all year long, but my favorite time to be there is in autumn when the leaves are turning color. This particular stretch I have captured shows the incredible layering of bold colors from the different trees stretching down the street ahead of me. The layers of color are SO fab. The image of an open sidewalk spreading out ahead of me just feels like an irresistible invitation, and the presence of the charming streetlight in the foreground completes the scene. Ahh, it makes me feel like taking my dogs Beanie and Pudge out for a walk right now! Walking down LeMoyne in the fall, with the crisp, invigorating air and the riot of colors from the turning leaves, is pure bliss. I sought to bring that exact feeling to life in this painting—the sense of being wrapped in the cozy embrace of nature while strolling down this beloved street. The interplay of light and color, the charming street lamp, and the open path ahead—all beckon you to take a breath, slow down, and savor the beauty around you.
