The inspiration for this piece was some incredible street art I saw on a wall in downtown Chicago back in 2019.  It was so arresting with its bold lines and bright color palette that I decided to snap a photo.  I wish I had captured a wider view as well because I only got a snippet of what looks like the artist’s name, and reverse image searches etc. did not help me find out who the artist is so that I could tag them.  In any case, I want to give them props for creating this AMAZING piece of urban art, which is a great example of what I love about city environments—the absolute joy, life, and vibrancy of this piece standing out amidst the gray of the sidewalks and surrounding buildings just makes ya feel good!  I adore how the pinks on top of each letter fade into the yellows on the bottom, and how the twists and turns of the embellishments on each figure create movement.  I also love how the bright blue 3D elements contrast in such an appealing way with the letter colors.  The black and white additions add more life.  Put it all together and the whole thing is SO cool.  I usually do my urban art paintings without any people present in the frame but I loved how this image looked juxtaposed with someone in motion, painted in a looser style, striding confidently down the street.  I love how she is looking straight ahead and walking with a purpose—just right for this scene.  I am in such awe of street artists and hope that my endeavor to memorialize their work is seen as the homage I am intending it to be.  I take no credit for the fantastic originality of what they have created but am attempting to portray how that art has impacted me and how I see it.
